How many #12's can I put in a 4" deep box? I'd look it up but I'm on a job and am close. All Romex, no clips but Romex connectors, ....
Thanks....
Dexie

Jim W in Tampa said:4 inch by what ????????????
iwire said:4" x 4" x 2 1/8"
infinity said:That was my assumption too. To me a 4" deep is just a 1900 box that's 2 1/8" deep.
Jim W in Tampa said:Doesn 't say its even a steel box,And we all know about assume
infinity said:Jim, you're correct there are many versions of a 4" box. But around here the description "4 inch deep" means really only one thing, a deep 1900 box.
Dexie123 said:Yes a deep 1900 box..... Thanks infinity....
I do have two gang raised cover as well to add to the calculation....
I was just doing a job for my brother and sister in law. I didn't have my code book b/c I didn't expect to do much work there. Sort of a favor that was to the effect "can you come look at something for us this weekend" . And the next thing you know every wire in the house is out of the box and you're running romex! lol
Anyway, that's the reason I had no code book yet access to the internet!
elohr46 said:I always carry an ugly's reference book, it's small enough to fit in the tool box, cheap enough to buy and has just about every code table you need for most jobs. And to add that most code tables don't change much from cycle to cycle.

Scroll part way down, and you can view the '02, '05, or '08 NEC.
