Is single conductor stranded 12awg THHN/THWN allowed to be used cable tray in a building, General purpose, 9" x 4" ladder type. Is it in the code book, section 392.10 just talks about the cable tray itself. We build analyzer building for the Gas industry, these have 240v 1ph 120 load centers with lights, receptacles, computer, and monitors.

You would need a chapter 3 wiring method, suggest 600 volt multi conductor tray cable, see 110.8
And to me 12 AWG in a CT would look cheesy, easily damaged

You can if you put it in some other kind of raceway and just use the cable tray to support the other raceway.

392.10(A) & (B) tell you what wiring methods can be used in cable tray. (A) refers you to Table 392.10(A) for the list of permitted wiring methods that can be used anywhere you install cable tray. (B) expands that list to permit additional types, including single conductors 1/0 or larger, but only in an industrial occupancy.
