i for got which table can any one direct me to count strands on aluminum to know the wire size

I was unaware you could do so. Table 8 of Chapt 9 (pg 70-681) gives the stranding, but the number of stands in not unique to a wire size.

i just remember someware having a chart so on old wiring jobs you hade an idea

Well theres this formula circular mil = the circular mil area of a conductor is equal to its diameter expressed in mills and then squared .


CM=MILS 2 so measure your diameter of that conductor in mills then due the math . take care best to ya
