Can anyone clarify the wire size allowable for the range circuit using a 50amp receptacle. I am wanting to use 8 AWG but I am not positive that this is permissible per the NEC. Thanks!!

Check out Table 210.121(B)(3)

I noticed nobody referred to 2005(WA state is still using 2005) NEC 334.80, which limits NM-B to the 60 C column. #8 NM-B is good for 40 amps max on a range circuit.

...and yet, I could put a 50A receptacle on that 40A (#8 NM-B) circuit [T210.21(B)(3)].

...from #3
