There could be several. This is far too little information. What is the application ? What type cable ? Commercial or residential ? Single phase or three phase ? Inside or outside ? Conduit or direct buried ?

Besides all that, I think this post is in the wrong section. Could one of the moderators be good enough to move it to NEC or Calculations ? Thanks.

Maybe he wants 400A at 12V

I suspect a DIYer. If you are still reading it, get a licensed electrician. A 400A service for example is WAY beyond what you should be looking at.
