Wanted to see if you have ever encountered this issue.

VRF cut sheet attached.

Square hole with rubber gromet and note that states “Power and Communication cable routing hole”

We used SO cord from the motor starter to this unit.

EE states it must be in MC cable.

No knock out provided to use MC cable connector.

Your thoughts?

I can't tell for sure but it looks to me like you ran it to a switch using a cord grip. Most cases if you are allowed to use cord it needs to be via a receptacle outlet.

I don't think this is one of the cases you can use cord. For some reason the cmps hate cord even though it is mostly a safe and cost effective way of connecting things up.

There are NO ELECTRICAL knock outs on this unit.

IF we were to run MC as the Engineer has suggested, how do we connect the MC?

LG, the equipment mfg., states the hole as noted on the cut sheets is where the electric is to enter.

Stick the MC in the square hole?

is there some reason you cannot make your own hole for the MC?

I agree, make your own hole. Or possibly use the existing square hole by removing the grommet and install some reducing washers with your MC cable

LG the equipment Mfg. states that warranty is voided if we make our own hole.

Also communication lines are running thru the same sq. hole so rigging a cover plate is not possible.

Still have no resolve please comment/ advise. Thank you.

Adapter plate shown is needed for North American installations and really should been sent with any units sold for installation in North America.

Ones I have been around (not LG) were similar and came with said adapter plate.

Add: when sold in other countries they run the supply cable through this square hole and there is clamp inside to secure the cable. No NEC compliant cables terminate that way though
