wire type for 100 amp subpanel

i have 200amp main service located in my garage and i want to run wire for a 100amp main lug subpanel which will be located in my basement.

what gauge wire should i look for to complete this task?

Look for the wire that comes with an electrician.
This site is not for "do it your selfers".
Please make sure your homeowners insurance is paid up, and don't forget your permit and inspection.
And keep in mind many electricans make a good living correct the horrendous and dangerous homeowners work.
And you can only use 310.15B(B)(6) if its the main power feeder.
