I am running wires type labeled; MTW or THWN or THHN or GAS & OIL Res. II or AWM 600V VW-1, through rigid nonmetalic conduit in a dry area, from building to building underground (20"+ deep) with less than 40% of cross sectional area of conduit (1-1/2") occupied. The buildings are a workshop and a tool shed and located 100+' from my residence. I do not have the latest NEC book and have been informed that I am supposed to be using wire type UF. Would appreciate some help.
Thank you

Re: Wire Type

300.5(D)(5) requires us to use conductors rated for wet locations in enclosures and raceways underground.

Type THWN is listed for wet locations, you are all set.

Type UF (Underground Feeder and Branch-Circuit Cable) is for direct burial in earth
