I'm a little confused how do you size up a wire way (trougth) what artical is it under, its not like sizing nup a j box 6 times or 8 times the largest pipe depending on streight or angle pulls

The Articles would be 376 for metallic raceways, and 378 for non-metallic.
As hard as it is to believe :), there is some controversy as to the 6X, 8X rule.
Some inspectors enforce it only "between raceways", a few enforce it just as the would a pull box so you might check with your inspector.

I've seen two schools of thought here. One is based on the wording "the distance between raceway and cable entries enclosing the same conductor " with proponents stating that, unlike a pull box, the distance from the conduit entry to the opposite wall was not determined by the 6X, 8X rule only the distance between raceways..
I know of inspectors, and I have substantiation of the thinking from a CMP, that the 6X,8X applies to opposite walls just as it would with a pull box.

Interesting.

Thats the way I have always looked at it.
