I object! As the long-time ham & a telephony nerd, I state POTS has never needed an antenna. If if is not a twisted pair to the CO, it ain't POTS.

I'm confused with this antenna. Why is a wi-fi antenna outside at all?
And some of them use the same frequency band as WiFi, just to confuse the issue.I think the confusion here is that we are not talking about WiFi! What is described is wireless internet delivery or distribution from one point to another. Two completely different animals.

And some (most? all?) are "WiFi" (a convenient name for various flavors of IEEE 802.11 networking, the term means basically nothing about the actual radios or protocols). Saying something communicates over WiFi is almost a useful as saying it uses electricity.And some of them use the same frequency band as WiFi, just to confuse the issue.
