I have a lady that has a lake house with trees everywhere. Is a wireless light switch worth considering. And if so what kind should I look at. I haven't used one myself

It would be hard to go underground and cut through all of the roots of the trees and maybe kill them. Have ever treched next to a big tree?

can you explain in detail what it is you are doing so I can understand?

I thought it was a house, a lakehouse to be exact. Which I take to mean a house by the lake that someone lives in. So doesn't it have electricity inside it? So why the need for wireless power?

that's not really my hair. And that's not really me.
Troy Polamalu is one of the safeties for the Sixburgh Steelers. The saying goes: "three-quarters of the earth is coverd by water and the other quarter is covered by Troy Polamalu." :)

What are the temperature extemes where you are?

I like the Leviton devices that signal each other (X10 type thing, can't remember their name right now) though I don't see them installed much anymore. A lot of the older ones were very susceptible (sp?) to lightning and surges but the latest generations seem to be much more hardy. I have never had a call back w/ these but it does seem that certain environmental conditions could cause problems for them.

In situations like the one you describe I would not hesitate to install one. Only one word of advice... they have an alpha numeric coding system that most people leave on the factory setting. Pick a combo you will rember and change them. I had a guy tell me a story once of people across the street from one another turning lights on and of in the others house.

I told her the best thing to do would be to have the POCO put up a light with a photo cell but she wants to turn it on and off. Two other things about this house there is a contrete sidewalk and its a log house.

it's really not that hard to go under a concrete sidewalk if you dig down on both sides and drive a ground rod through it to pass you wire through. You said it is only 20 feet away. I would just dig a trench.
