Wireless Thermometer

This is probably a ridiculous question to ask here, and is technically more of an audio/video question but figured with the wealth of knowledge here I would give it a try. So here's my scenario.

Our Chef asked me if there was any way I could set him up with a wireless thermometer. This would be stationed at the new smoker outside the back of our HQ building about 500' - 750' away from his deck and one floor up. He would obviously like to keep track of cooker temps and meat temps without having to walk all the way out back every hour.

So I found an app which would work perfect, iGrill. It comes with the two temp probes and would directly link to his IPhone. Here lies the probem, I am worried about the Bluetooth connection operating that far. So I found a Bluetooth extender http://www.aircable.net/products/host-xr3.php that I think will work, but I was hoping someone would have a better idea. From what I understanda Bluetooth is more straight line than spherical signal. I also couldn't find a Bluetooth to WI-FI bridge unless someone knows something that I don't. I could install temp probes over the BAS but that opens up additional issues and would be expensive.

Thanks for any input or advice. I'm assuming everyone on the here can understand how important well prepared briskets are at work.

Bluetooth is spherical, since you have no way to effectively aim the antenna (the way you can with WiFi with an external antenna.
The problem with Bluetooth to WiFi adapters is that they would need to translate the protocol too, not just relay the signal data.

I'd call that company, tell them what you have, and ask if it will work. Then order it on a credit card and give it a try.
