Re: Wires behind shower

Charlie,
Maybe I am reading this post wrong but since it says behind the shower I don't think they are implying it would be within the shower or tub space. We had this same question a while back. Installing a receptacle or switch within the shower space would be a violation but installing a receptacle or switch in the framed walls of the shower facing the opposite direction of the shower would not be a violation. The building code does not consider these walls to be a wet location.

Re: Wires behind shower

Thanks, Two examples of what I meant would be: 1) Back to back bathrooms with a vanity and GFI outlet behind the adjacent shower wall, and 2) Outside GFI recepticles or a light switch for outdoor lighting installed on those adjacent shower walls facing out.
