Can someone please answer a couple of questions concerning wireway fill and derating. First is the at any cross section statement. What does the AT ANY CROSS SECTION mean. Does it mean a small portion (let's say a 2x2 section of a 6x6 wireway) or is it refering to the entire cross sectional interior area of the wireway? Second Derating starts at 31 conductors is that where i would start derating (40% ampacity).

I believe they are referring to the entire cross-section. For example in a 6X6 wireway, the cross-sectional area of all conductors could not exceed 7.2sq. in.
(6 X 6 X 20%)
