Hi. I am an engineer in the UK trying to find out about the use of NEMA 12 Wireway in relation to cable de rating and fill capacity. I am looking at an application where the customer is specifying the use of said wireway away from my control panel to my machine. That said typically we would use Multicore cables to wire motors, supplies etc 3c+E, 5c+E and so on. Having looked at a lot of information on the subject I can't find anything specific to the use of multicore cable only single core and the 30CCC's rule etc. Is it common practice in the US to wire machines away from a control panel in single core cable using enclosed wireway and conduit? Have i read somewhere that a multicore cable is treated as 1 cable or do I need to consider each core within the cable for the de rating and the OD to determine my fill capacity?
I would typically use a cable that has an outer PVC sheath, copper braid, an Inner PVC sheath and then PVC coated individual conductors of a particular square mm(AWG) size.
My issue is that I have numerous motors and supplies, one of which is 32A, which require wiring but due to the number of CCC's my 32A cable would need to be 85mm square(168 kcmil?).
If the rules are the rules no matter what the cable can I use Tray or basket to overcome this issue of de ratng?
Some feedback would be appreciated?
Thanks.
