Wiring in Mainline Disconnect Switch for Elevator motor controller

I have been told for years that the Line and Load wires inside of a mainline disconnect for an elevator controller can not be touching or even close to each other inside the switch enclosure. We go through allot to make that happen. I was recently told by a guy who I feel knows the code well that this is not the case and that the Line and Load side wires can run in the disconnect switch together as long as they come in and out of the switch enclosure separately. Please help me with the answer and reference the code. Thanks! Stay healthy!

I guess my first question would be is how big would a disconnect have to be for the line and load conductors not to be close to each other? :)
Looking at article 620, I don't see an issue either way.
