Wiring method for LED tape lights

Just curious what type of wire you all use to feed between transformers and LED tape light. I'm referring to under cabinet lights in a residence although curious what the practice is in commercial if different.

We've always used 18/2 thermostat wire but curious if others use something different.

I use in-wall speaker cable.
As for size, it depends on the install (length of cables, wattage of ribbon sections). I run a separate cable from driver to each ribbon section.

18-gauge is good for 2 amps at a maximum of about 30 feet. Otherwise you can have enough voltage drop that it starts to affect brightness.

Note that voltsge drop is significantly more important at 12 volts

I once installed some 8-amp ribbons that were high on a deck, while the transformer was below. I ran 12-gauge cable for those.
