Is LFNC ok to install along the base of this concrete patio or would I need LFMC? They will have a rock boarder 12" wide. I plan on running the LFNC slightly above the rock, so not technically buried. Is this legal

Conduit isn’t allowed to run on the ground surface, except under a building, generally. Except for rigid.

You would have a hard time complying with the fastening requirements with it laying on the ground.

And I would say it is subject to physical damage as well.

I would think it needs to be buried 18” minimum.

At that point just run PVC.

I hope it's legal. I recently did the exact same thing, except I undercut the dirt below the concrete, so the LFNC I ran (with UF in it) is actually under the edge of the pad, instead of next to it.

Its not on the ground its on the edge of the slab, so very similar to running along the foundation of a building.
Physical damage is subject and there is no definition of physical damage in the NEC
You will need to strap it well and more often than the NEC requires
PVC would a bit slower to install but strapped per NEC would follow the curve well. There is the issue of PVC expansion to consider.

I would never put an outside recepticle that low to the ground. 20 years from now it may look like this.

Attaching to the side of the slab is an entirely different thing than laying it in top of decorative rock. 👍

I hope it's legal. I recently did the exact same thing, except I undercut the dirt below the concrete, so the LFNC I ran (with UF in it) is actually under the edge of the pad, instead of next to it.

Then it’s under a minimum of 2” concrete, so perfectly legal. 👍

I agree I mean don't you have to get the thing above the snow line or something? How do you keep the moisture and water out?

Doesn't sound suitable for the conditions

down on the schedule of test results..

Eg. Swa mounted on cable perforated tray feeding an isolator, then out of the isolator with pvc singles in pvc conduit

Type of wiring code;
Swa-F
PVC singles in conduit-C

Reference methods;
Multi-core cables on perforated tray-E or F
Singles in conduit-B

Thanks
