I am roughing in a small restrauant that is rated under 100 persons and my question is can I use 12-2 nm as a wiring method.I have reserched the code and I could not find any code violations.I was told that because it is a commercial building and a restrauant that I could not use nm cable.

Often it is your local fire marshal that determines this, I think they base it on occupancy.

We have wired restaurants with NM.
