Good Morning - I do believe this is my first post although I am a long-time lurker.

As a homeowner, I have noticed over the years that major home appliances typically have an electrical wiring diagram (sometimes in unusually good shape) affixed to the interior panels.

Does anyone know if this is a UL (or other governing body) requirement? If it is a requirement, can someone provide a source?

Much Thanks,

Eric S.

Well a quick search of www.Nema.org,
http://www.nema.org/media/upload/ESPG_2007.pdf note page 77 which point to alot of various agencies, and which also is 136 page document that notes ANSI, UL and the Consumer Product Safety Commission that has formed Electrical Safety Foundation International. www.electrical-safety.org.

Back to Nema on page 69 ANSI Z535.4-2006 product safety signs and labels is about the closest I could get!
www.ul.com using the term: labeling, one gets this response here!

My first thought is that it's more of a ANSI requirement picked up by other organizations, but anyone can prove me wrong.

Thanks for the links, Cadpoint.

I searched them to no avail. I did a "google" on appliance circuit diagrams and am rummaging through that at the moment.
