Just need to get this light working, I figure if I remove the ignitor from the equation, the lamp should light, unless I'm totally wrong? Just trying to get some light working so I can finish what I'm actually being paid for and I happened to have a brand new pulse start ballast kit handy.

Thanks!

I thought the lamps and ballast had to match.

A pulse start system needs a dedicated ballast that has an igniter. This eliminates the need for the starting probe and bi-metal switch in the bulb. There are many designs of pulse start ballasts. The Pulse Start ballast must match the electrical requirements of each specific Pulse Start Lamp. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has applied certain identification codes to each pulse start ballast and lamp. Contact us if you have any questions for the Pulse Start Ballast kit that is right for you.

But I dont get it... it really should work... shouldnt it?

only if the ballasts required for the two lamp types are the same. If they are not the same and the lamp does light do not expect the same performance or life out of it. Not all wattages are always available in both types of lamp either.

Both ballats are 400watt with similar specs.... this should be working..
