Is sourcing it from a foreign country an option? Everything is cheaper in China, but it doesn't seem reliable at all and I don't really trust that the wire will be a proper gauge and all that as well. Are there other options, other than electrical distributers, to find a reliable source of wire from?

There are plenty of internet based wire suppliers. some are actually quite cost effective compared to your local supply house.

But your best bet might be to have a chat with your outside salesman from the supply house and see what kind of deal you can make. Even if you are a realatively small entity who does not buy all that much, you can get some really good pricing on all kinds of stuff, pretty much just for asking the right way.

We as a country need to stop supporting China, they use slave labor and there trading practice are one sided. We can’t talk about equality in are county if we are supporting concentration camps in China for cheaper prices.

I will continue to buy Southwire locally. My supplier is a family owned business in my state.

My work hasn’t slowed down any, and my customers are paying the bill. It’s more important to me to keep the money cycling through my local economy.

I look after my salespeople and they look after me. I encourage others to do the same; your relationship with your supplier should be as important as any and treating it that way will benefit your business.

If you belong to a contractors association you may be able to work out some type of deal for the association where you can buy the smaller gauge wires (14/2 and 12/2) in pallet lots direct from Southwire. I don't know how many rolls are on a pallet but for argument's sake let's say there are 250 rolls. If you have 25 guys in your association everybody gets 10 rolls at a reduced price (before the middleman or wholesaler). Just a thought
