If air conditoning disconnect in panelboard is located in same room no walls between as unit but when you face the unit the panelboard is behind the person but within 50 feet of the unit then is it considered to be within sight per code?

IMO, yes however, years ago I did get red tagged for that. Install a disconnect and be done with it

BTW, how can an a/s unit be inside a room? The unit must be outside
 
Condensor unit is outside which has disconnect of its own but has indoor unit both connected to same circuit in panelboard.
