Is there a code against using paper/flammables in junction boxes and panels?
I have never used anything except my vinyl label maker. I saw a pic of wire marked with masking tape earlier today, and I never looked in the book to see if it was legit.

If there is, we will not be able to use NM any more.

FWIW, isn't most insulation flammable?

Or is that inflammable?

Why do flammable and inflammable mean the same thing?

The word "inflammable" came from Latin inflammāre = "to set fire to", where the prefix in- means "in" as in "inside" (compare English "in flames"). But there have been instances of people thinking that this "in-" prefix means "not" as in "invisible" and "incombustible" etc, and thus wrongly thinking that "inflammable" means "cannot burn". To avoid this safety hazard, the shortened word "flammable" has come into use in recent years.

IMO, yes it would be a bad thing if we couldn't use NM cable.

I would agree with that...I only said it because of the paper in the NM sheathing and a story I heard about an arson invetigator deciding the paper was the cause of the fire...:-?

So the paper just self combusted?

Here is another application of flammable paper in a device box.

The paper shield is definitely flammable, the rounded corner in the top left is where I put a lighter to it and it started to burn immediately.

Many control cabinets come with manuals and prints inside the cabinet in a holder.

I keep putting those little paper stickers in panels next to the ground bar that say "Equipment Ground".....

You know, I thought that if one was to roll up the NY Times or Wall Street Journal and put it in the panel, we would have "smart wiring methods"...I guess I am just confused. ;)

I prefer the Washington Post:grin:
