Our company has a small fleet of eight vans. And only one of them has a cage. I have hinted that I want one in my van but havent gotten it. I have searched for laws requiring them and can't find anything other than sales. I live in PA. I'm wondering what everyone else thinks about it. I have seen crash test videos of loaded vans (with a cage)and it looks ugly.

Of course it looks ugly.

AFAIK, There are absolutely no standards for such partitions, and no requirement to have them. You're perfectly free to fill your van with all manner of things that will become deadly missiles in the event of a crash.

Just as long as you're not texting ... :)

I have always thought DOT or OSHA required them, In 2007 I was hit head on and if I didn't have the bulk head between me and the equipment in the back I would probably not be here, my ground rod driver was embedded into the 3/4" plywood I had put on the other side of the built head to keep the heat and air up in the front, where it hit was right where my head would have been if it wasn't there.

OSHA does not have jurisdiction over commercial vehicles. There are rules for semi trucks and securing those loads, but I don't know of anything for commerial vans and such.

Have you checked with your state DMV, DOT or even call the highway patrol? I wouldn't drive your van up and ask you might not enjoy some of the answers if your in violation.
I was once told I needed a comercial drivers license to drive the service truck. The sec of state provided me with a book with more information than I needed, but I didn't need a com. license for a service truck.
