Re: WORKERS COMP

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I'm surprised no one else has said anything yet. Perhaps if you didn't yell. (Maybe your not aware that all caps is perceived as yelling)

Re: WORKERS COMP

I thought there was a minimum number of employees you need to kick in the requirement, In Virginia it is 3 or more employees (I think).

Re: WORKERS COMP

In FL officers of the company are not required to carry it.But any employies require it.Yes it is exspinsive and almost makes it not worth hiring.

Re: WORKERS COMP

Don't go through a payroll company.

Instead, call our insurance agent. All states are different, but the state must make it available to you.
You will more than likely pay a higher rate for the first year and maybe the next.
It is based on your projected payroll $$.

Re: WORKERS COMP

Luke;

We suffered through the early years and had a fairly good safety record, then one year we got hit with a big increase, the reason we were told............WE WERE DUE FOR AN ACCIDENT.statistics

Re: WORKERS COMP

I researched several sources of workers comp.
It seemed to me with all the other taxes and requirements involved a payroll company may not be such a bad idea. Here is a quote I recieved.WORKERS COMPENSATION & PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION PROPOSAL

(1) PAYROLL TAXES:

FICA 7.65% (EMPLOYER?S SOCIAL SECURITY MATCH)

FUTA .80% (FEDERAL UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION)

SUTA 2.70% (STATE UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION)

Total: 11.15% (TIMES YOUR GROSS PAYROLL)

(2) ADD FLORIDA WORKER?S COMPENSATION INSURANCE RATE AND OUR ADMINISTRATION FEE:

ELECTRICAL CONTRACT0R
CODE: 5190
+ WC: 10.16%
Total: 21.31% TIMES YOUR GROSS PAYROLL

Unlike our competition, we have NO minimum amount of payroll and NO minimum number of employees that you are required to process EVERY payroll period, and we do NOT increase your administration fee every time you ADD an employee!

Our minimum administration fee is $10 per calendar day which allows you to have up to $7000 of payroll processed each week for any number of employees. When your payroll exceeds $7000 per week the $10 minimum does not apply and instead you will pay a flat fee equal to1% of gross payroll processed.

You will give Federal Express, or other currier, a check for your gross payroll, plus the cost of payroll taxes, workers compensation insurance, and our administration, plus a small delivery charge, when they deliver your payroll checks.

Eliminate the financial hardship of pre-paying your worker?s compensation premium (just pay at the end of each pay period), enjoy the freedom from worker?s compensation audits, and avoid an increase in premium in the event of a loss. You may request as many certificates of workers compensation insurance coverage as you need and they will usually be sent out within 24 hours.

To set up a new account, an employee file on every current employee, and come to your location to complete all forms, there is a one-time, new client set up fee of $300. You may add or terminate as many employees thereafter as you like with no additional charge.
