Working clearance for marine applications

I work with some people who do design and alterations on various marine vessels (ships, boats, barges, etc.) I don't work with marine stuff so am not that familiar. I'd like to know if there may be special rules that apply to working clearances around electrical equipment.

I note that there is a special rule for Mobile Homes in NEC 550.11(A) that only requires 30" of clear space in front of a panelboard which is an exception to the general minimum of 36" found in Table 110.26(A)(1). The reason must surely be the purely practical consideration that few mobile homes have aisleways as wide as 36". Space is at a premium.

If space is at a premium in a mobile home, it can really be so on a small workboat. So my QUESTION: Does anyone know of any special exceptions that apply to clearance in front of a panelboard in a marine application?

The NEC does not apply to this situation at all. Take a look at article 90.2(B)(1). Ships and other watercraft are covered by US Coast Guard regulations. I worked in the arena of marine engineering for just under a year. But that was over a decade ago, and I no longer remember that set of rules.
