We have a 750kva SQD Power Cast II XFMR. 4160V Delta Primary / 208Y-120V Secondary. Outdoor, 122" tall. There are 4 large doors that have an overhead door holder. The door holder slides out when you open the door, locking in place, preventing the door from slamming on you whne it's windy. Very handy!
The problem is the door only opens 85 degrees, not 90. Our electrical inspector is requiring us to get the vendor out to correct this code violation.
My understanding from my interpretation of this section of the code, and the posts I've read here is that, "working clearances are not required if the equipment is such that it is not likely to require examination, adjustment, servicing, or maintenance while energized". It is unlikely by our customers policies, OSHA, 70E, etc. that anyone will ever work on this gear energized, however I suppose in an emergency it is possible (there are IR scan windows).
In this case do you think the 90degree door rule applies? Help!
