Working Clearance

A standard 20" panel is located in a utility closet and is facing a 32" door, and the space between the face of the panel and the door frame is approx. 2.5'. If the door is opened, can this be considered valid working space per code given there will be 30" side to side and 3' in front of the panel when the door is open?

I would say yes, if the door opens out and opens at least 90 degrees.

I agree, the answer is yes. I often locate panels opposite doors in shallow rooms to allow for working space.

A panel could even be placed where by opening a door access to it is blocked as long as by closing the door the defined space is reestablished.

I also agree, but I?m presuming that none of the 20 inches of the panel?s width is to the left or right of the door opening.
