I cannot identify any code requirements pertaining to the walking / working surface in front of electrical equipment. Article 110.26 clearly defines the size of the working space, but my question is whether or not there is any code stipulation about the walking / standing surface being level. Is it permitted to install outdoor equipment on a building wall or other support but leave the walking / standing surface in front of that equipment sloping in any direction (toward or away from the equipment or left or right slope parallel to the wall)? This question would pertain to indoor installations as well for equipment mounted in the vicinity of ramps.

IMO, if you can stand on the surface without actively thinking about how to maintain your stance, and there are no trip hazards encroaching on the working space surface, it is level enough to meet the intent of the NEC.

Build by a 5 degree slope, no one will notice it as a problem
Build by a 30 degree slope, where you are wedging your feet to stay in position...now we may have a problem.
