Working Space

Hi.

I am trying to find out if article 110.26 about safe working space was already included in NEC 1999 or was added in NEC 2002. Any help greatly appriciated need to know this for an installation which was made in 2002 but was proposed earlier. I personally would suggest to go always with the latest version. Oh yes one last thing customer is US NAVY, not that it matters.

The work space rules are not new. They have been in the code for a long time. Prior to the '99 code they were in 110.16 and not 110.26 like they are now.

Thanks Don. By any chance do you how I can get just that portion of the old 1999 NEC without bying it? Need it for reference.

If all you need is to show that it was not added in 2002, then you might be able to make your point with a copy of the NEC 2002 page that has 110.26. It?s a long article. If you are interested in one specific requirement, look to see if there are revision marks in the column border next to that requirement. If there is no revision mark in the border, that proves that the requirement was not changed in the 2002 version.

If you still need the 1999 version, try the local library. You could also try the permit authority. Both places are likely to have at least the 1999 version, and they might have even older versions.

Oh yes one last thing customer is US NAVY, not that it matters.

It does matter. Being ex-Navy myself, I understand how they will sometimes insist on having a paper trail to document any key design decisions.
