Working space

Due to constraint space, we have only 3" left between top of a recessed 2x4 light fixture housing and bottom of hvac duct above.

Will this be enough space to run flexible or cable through and make connection at top of light fixture? Thanks!

I wouldn't think so - those connectors wouldn't grip NM very well. I've never pulled a datasheet or UL listing to look though.

This supplier has 90 degree romex connectors listed to order but I can't find a pic to see if it's the same one or not.

I don't have a box here, so I don't know.
Can't find anything in the NEC requiring listing for connectors for NM cable, but of course 110.3(B) . . .

Can you explain this in more detail ? You need a connector of some type at the fixture.

They now make lay in fixtures that are 1 1/4 inch high. The ones we use have T5 lamps. Space them out farther, they are bright. We use them here, nobody knows how to run anything up high, now everything is almost on the ceiling.
