Xmfr primary protection

Question--electrician is installing a step down 45kva transformer (277/480 to 120/208).He is approximately 75ft from 480v panel providing feed for the transformer.Is there a requirement to install a main disconnect on the primary at the xmfr? Thanks for your help.

There is no NEC requirement for a disconnect at the transformer, however it could be a good design/safety practice to install one.
