Xray of concrete walls Tilt up warehouse

Looking at a 325,000 square foot warehouse.

Has the Poured on ground tilt up walls.

Need to core drill 3 inch holes. 2 cores. I am sure there is rebar probably. Do we need to xray?
 
I would want to get permission from the structural engineer of record to bore the holes. They can tell you where the rebar should be, but x-raying is probably smart.
 
Just curious-- but will a "Stud Finder" detect rebar in concrete? Or the industrial strength model?

I think the critical thing is getting guidance from the engineer that did the design work. It may not matter much whether you cut through rebar or not but it should be his call.
 
Got quoted, 2 3 inch cores. 14 inch wall. 2300.00
I have to supply 30 amp power
I have to supply water source.
I have to manage and clean up slurry.
I have to remove cores.
Pricey??
 
Two cores, 3" diameter? Twenty three 1" cores?
Either way the outfit we use has a generator in case on site power is an issue and we have to supply water. They clean up the mess the same way you would clean up at the end of the day.

If it is two holes, three inch diameter and you are not used to core drilling it's gonna take all day, plus tool rental, pick up and return, so how much is that worth?

I am not sure how long. Never did it.

It's for 2 3 inch cores. I got to find a spicket somewhere. Figure they clean their own mess up. But guess not.
