2023 NEC in 220.14(I) has some nomenclature that does not appear to be defined and is confusing to me. Specifies "180VA for each single or multiple receptacle on one yoke". Yoke does not appear to be defined, but appears to refer to the physical piece of equipment that contains a single or duplex receptacle, that is then mounted in a box.

The next sentence specifies "A single piece of equipment consisting of a multiple receptacle comprised of four or more receptacles shall be calculated at not less than 90VA per receptacle".

From the above two code references, is this true?
Add 180VA for a single receptacle in a box
Add 180VA for a duplex receptacle in a box
Add 4 x 90VA = 360 VA for two duplex receptacles mounted in a 2-gang box

Also, to clarify, are both a single or a duplex receptacle considered one outlet?

That part of the rule is referring to this type of receptacle...

Yoke (strap) will be defined in the 2026 code. The following appeared in the First Draft Report, and there were no Public Comments on the definition, so it is very likely to appear in the 2026 code.
Yoke (Strap).
The structural frame of a wiring device, such as a receptacle or switch, that serves as the mounting means. (406) (CMP-18)
