I am considering purchasing a commercial building for my business in the state of Washington. The building has the following equipment:
>Zinsco single phase 600 amp main
>Zinsco 4 socket meter panel with 2 each breakers pinned together with 100 stamped on each lever.
>In 2 of the 3 (1000 sq ft) bays there are Zinsco 125 amp breaker panels. In the last bay there is a Square D QO Load Center. No pawer rating noticed.

I have been informed I need to repalce the 2 breaker panels in bay 1 & 2 ( one of which has burn marks on the door and switch cover plate. My question is: should I replace the 600 amp main and 4 socket meter panel as well.

Thank you for your opinion and feed back.

Re: Zinsco breakers and main

no

zinsco is not the best equipment but there is alot still operating. the biggest problem is availability--but it isn't real bad. we used to do infrared scanning and you can have the best equipment and if it isn't installed correctly, it isn't as good as the lowest grade equipment on the market... as you change out equipment when required change it to square d to match the one unit until everything is exchanged. besides, the tenant may want an upgrade and then you let him pay for the new square d equipment!!!
