Just looking at an old zinsco panel, and yes it neeeeds to be replace! Zinsco breakers are always more expensive and the panel connections are loose, an accident waiting to happen. Im curious as to when did zinsco first start? I was thinking about 40 years ago, then i could be wrong. Any info you have on the date would be great!

Time sure flies! Your link is the same newsletter I was thinking of. That design was never right. One of the early projects I did as a foreman was about a 60 home subdivision using Zinsco, (these homes were 100% electric - baseboards & all), we used 100A panels.

As far as I know most of these are still in use 28 years later. When I ran my own company we had a policy: with Zinsco no bus change or cleaning, if the bus was pitted or damaged it was a panel/service change.
