Does anyone know if or how to determine the fault current rating on a Zinsco Switchboard if nothing is listed on the equipment? Is there anyone or any company that maintains records of the original fault current listings for FPE, FA, Zinsco, etc.?

Have a POCO replacing an XFMR and I need to "recertify" that the gear has an AIC to handle the new AFC when the utility does the XFMR replacement.

I am familiar with the issues regarding Zinsco gear and their buss/breaker problems. Just searching for any knowledge base on fault current ratings for existing obsolete gear.

Do you want the AIC of the breakers or the SCCR/ SCA Withstand of the switchboard? These terms are not interchangeable, although many in our industry do. AIC is addressed in NEC 110.9 and SCCR/withstand is under 110.10.

UL did not start testing, and therefore much of the industry did not start labeling, SCA ratings of switchboards and panelboards until around the mid-80's. Prior to this you would need to find the original factory drawings/specifications.

Breakers were available with AIC ratings up to 65k and higher as far back as the 50-60's.
