Underground junction box conduit connections

I've been told that underground junction boxes (120V or 277V branch circuits) require the conduit to enter from the bottom. I'm unable to find where in the NEC this is stated to be required. If some could please assist I would appreciate it.

I don't believe there is such a requirement. 314.29 and .30 is what you need. However since you are a diy'er....

Apparently our OP is also an EE so I will re-open the thread. I must remind members we cannot give How to info but can help with code info.
