So he's incorrect based on what you've posted.
i am jumping in the middle here and this may have been stated in other responses that i have not yet read ... but, the code says group the multiple disconnects and that EACH of those multiple disconnects must simultaneously disconnect all ungrounded conductors that it [THAT disconnect] controls ... it doesn't say that one movement of the hand has to disconnect ALL power from the appliance.

Was that a typical practice at one time. I guess what I’m getting at … Is that a real concern or is the code worded in way that allows the interpretation but wasn’t the intent.
i know that some residential duct heaters operated at 240 volts but only had a single pole disconnect installed as the factory-provided "on / off" control ... don't ask how i learned that lesson.
