Just a note that currently NJ has adopted the 2008 NEC but the references in the rehab code are still 2005. As such the DCA says the rehab code still falls under 2005. But this should change any day now according to what I have heard.

When I called the inspector of the NJ town in question; he stated AFCI required only if new circuit taken back to panel, and if Change of contr. is issued and permit was taken out(sealed) by original contractor before Oct.6th, 05 standards can be used.
