What DMM are you using for resistance measurement, and why are you getting confused with it Chris?

the 117. sometmes the readings go all over the place, sometimes its in kilo ohms, megaohms or whatnot. i dont know if im reading a really high resistance connection or something else. i usually leave the meter in auto mode. i might just be over thinking and there is nothing wrong

i think the main reason i have all DMM's is because simpson is the only good analog meter IMO but i couldnt afford it. sears had the 117 for 150 or someting like that. home depot sells sperry analogs for 13 dollars but i dont know about their quality

As I told you in a PM, most likely you didn't have solid test points or your batteries are worn out. Don't wait on the battery indicator to come on.
