Hello all you fine folks.
With the arrival of codes including afci protected circuits, I have yet to have had the pleasure of installing these devices or breakers (knocking on wood). I'm sure however when the 2011 code is adopted
the inspectors in my area will start looking for and requiring them.
My question is, for the most part, on a simple service change (lets say residential, 200 amp), if the new panel is breakered up huh say 80% .........minus any appliance, laundry, ac circuits.......
should I be thinking that these afci breakers would add like an additional $800 onto the material cost (+/- $40ish a piece)?
Pretty insane, but is this the deal?
Thanks,
Rich
