110.26(E)(1)(b) allows this installation where protection is provided.
I second that.No it does not....110.26(E)(1)(b) allows Foreign Systems "ABOVE" the Dedicated Space. From the top of the equipment to a hight of 6' or to the structural ceiling is dedicated to the electrical equipment. That are must stay clear! ABOVE that Dedicated Space you can put a drip pan or whatever else:thumbsup:

Often times the drain is never called upon to function - but when it finally is called upon is when it will be clogged:happyyes:Hope the drain never gets clogged

I wonder if the drain size is sufficient?
Is the drip pan to contain a catastrophic failure of the drain or contain a leak?
Appears to be code compliant.
90.1 Purpose.
(A) Practical Safeguarding. The purpose of this Code is
the practical safeguarding of persons and property from
hazards arising from the use of electricity.
What appears to be code compliant? Practical safeguarding would be following "this code" being 110.26(F)(1)(a)
The plumbing is still in the 6 foot space regardless of the drip pan, so neither the drip pan nor the plumbing are allowed.
If you mean: (please highlight the applicable violation)
(E) Dedicated Equipment Space. All switchboards, panelboards,
and motor control centers shall be located in dedicated
spaces and protected from damage.
Exception: Control equipment that by its very nature or
because of other rules of the Code must be adjacent to or
within sight of its operating machinery shall be permitted
in those locations.
(1) Indoor. Indoor installations shall comply with
110.26(E)(1)(a) through (E)(1)(d).
(a) Dedicated Electrical Space. The space equal to the
width and depth of the equipment and extending from the
floor to a height of 1.8 m (6 ft) above the equipment or to
the structural ceiling, whichever is lower, shall be dedicated
to the electrical installation. No piping, ducts, leak protection
apparatus, or other equipment foreign to the electrical
installation shall be located in this zone.
Both plumbing and drip pan need to go. If you want to ruffle sombodies feathers tell the inspector and point it out.

This building was constructed under the 2008 code, and says the same thing as (110.26(E)(1)(a)
Agreed! I'm a professional feather ruffler also, I'm trying to hone my communication skills, could I get some examples on how one would express their concern over this obvious over site of the National Electrical Code.
See the picture in post #1.Where in the OP does it state that it is 'in' the 6' space?
If the panel is surface mount and there is plumbing piping above the panel, then you have a code violation. So I can't have a laundry room above my panel in my home? BTW I did just that.
That states the purpose of the code, but does not give permission to violate any of the specific sections found in the code.90.1 Purpose.
