RC,

Don't know about your handbook, but the one I use is:
McGraw-Hills
National Electrical Code Handbook
Twenty-Fifth Edition
by, Brian J. McPartland &
Joseph F. McPartland
Copyright 2005, Based on the 2005 NEC

You may want to check the section in your handbook 210.10(C)(2). Just to see if they are the same.

No wonder. I use the NEC Handbook from NFPA.

NEC 210 52 (F) Laundry Areas. In dwelling units, at least one receptacle outlet shall be installed for the laundry.

NEC 210.11 (C) (2)Laundry Branch CircuitsIn addition to the number of branch circuits required by other parts of this section, at least one additional 20-amp branch circuit shall be provided to supply the laundry receptacle outlet(s). This circuit shall have no other outlets.

Laundry is not defined in the NEC as meaning a washing machine. Put three outlets in the laundry room on the same circuit, and you have no violation of the code in my opinon.
