Dennis - I hope you are not suggesting that you can connect to the water pipe at any location. [That is, more than 5' inside a building].

No I am not and I quoted the article that specifically states where the egc needs to land. That is any point on the grounding electrode system. That stops within 5' of where it enters the building but I can bug to the gec anywhere on the system.

Thank you - Just double checking, I know you cited the correct code section....but sometimes folks read the words of your comment and don't bother checking the actual code.
