Is it possible if necessary to use fire alarm notification devices from different manufacturers in the same space. For example using speaker strobe devices from two different manufacturers if you need an extra device quickly. Do I just need an external sync module or is this not possible?

The devices have to be listed for use with the fire alarm control panel. The control panel instructions will provide a list of devices that can be used with that control panel.

If you can separate the spaces that the devices will be in, like System Sensor on one floor and Gentex on the other, maybe. In the exact same space, such as an open plane office, no, it isn't going to work. This is especially true if you have proprietary products like Siemens or Simplex.

To follow Gadfly, the devices wouldn't synch, but they only need to if you can see the two devices at the same time. Otherwise, as long as they are listed for use with that system and they are both using the same protocol from the panel (straight 24VDCc, march time, temporal code from panel, etc.) you should be able to install 2 devices from different systems.

We have seen where devices with a sync protocol different from the panel's or NAC booster's native sync will not flash at all, never mind in a different pattern.
