I am going to install a pair of emergency stop stations in a paint booth. I want to exit the paint booth through the ceiling, which is just a sheet metal ceiling ,with 1/2" IMC. I was wondering what I can use to seal the exit hole for the conduit. I can cut and thread the conduit so that the ceiling material is centered in the pipe threads, but what can I use to seal the hole up properly to meet code ? Any help greatly appreciated. Thank You, Steve Wiese.

Do they use flammable paint in the paint booth? If so the emergency stop will need to be rated for Class I, Division 1 and you will need a boundary seal on the conduit either inside the booth or outside. Note that between the boundary and the seal fittings there can be no threads other than those that enter the seal fitting.

Seal around the conduit opening with any suitable caulking. If the booth has a fire rating, then the sealing material will have to meet the fire rating. That is not an NEC issue.
