I went and did a little window shopping and Radio Shack carries a miniature limit switch that is a bout the same size as the magnets that are used to keep the cabinet doors closed. This would not act as a meat hook any more than the magnet does. It would have to switch a relay that in turn controls the lights.
I am opposed to manual control of the lights. If somebody is doing enough cooking, smart is a relative term. That is, minimize the number of buttons that need to be pushed.
