Well there's more than that in 334.12... so are you saying the building is not of a Type III, IV, or V construction? If yes, then you can't use it.


But if it is type III, can NM-B still be used? Or does the feed count as "service entrance"?

If Type III construction, and there are no other prohibiting conditions, yes it can be used. A feeder is what it is.


So unless exterior run, inside it is a feeder so if cost comes nocking in the bid I could pull 6/3 NM-B or 6/3 MC from the electrical room up to the subpanel.

Ok, one more question. :angel: If the electrical room is none accessible to tenants (locked door to authorized personnel only), would the subpanel need a main breaker or is main lug good?

See 240.24(B)(2). In short, MLO if there is 24/7 continuous building management supervision. Otherwise MCB or unlocked electrical room door.
